Sprague Library is thrilled to announce the reopening and the rebranding of two of our larger study spaces as we strive to offer a variety of spaces and amenities for all of our library users.

The Library has renamed the space formerly known as the Periodicals Reading Room as the new Commuter Study Space. This is the large, bright and inviting room on the south wing of the first floor of the Library. This room has newer furniture, lots of outlets, a large group study table, and some height adjustable tables and is located near the Print and Laptop Lending Lab and CAST – the Center for Academic Success and Tutoring.

A study space dedicated to faculty and graduate students reopened as of Friday, October 7 with a new name — the Faculty and Graduate Student Commons. This 36 seat room is available first come first serve for individual and group work, and the entire room may be booked at least 3 days in advance for seminars, meetings, etc.

The Faculty and Graduate Student Commons is located to the left as you exit the elevator on the lower level, opposite the microfilm collection cabinets. The room contains a mix of tables, chairs and study carrels, and outlets.

Both spaces are open during all of the hours that the library building is open.

All of of the library’s study spaces are available to our students who reside on campus. In addition to the Commuter Study Space, we have quiet and silent study spaces located throughout the building, along with group study spaces, collaborative study spaces, and study carrels. Everyone is welcome to use these library spaces — commuter and residential students alike.
