We’ve seen some great deals in the January sales on a range of products. So if you’re after a new laptop, AirPods, television or mattress, now could be a good time to buy.

Our experts track prices throughout the year, so we’re able to cut through the retailer spin and only bring you the deals we consider to be genuinely good value.

All of the deals we’ve included below are products that have we’ve tested. As our lab tests are objective and reflect how you would use these products in real life, you can trust our reviews are accurate.

We won’t recommend any products that performed poorly, but the best way to see if a product is right for you is to check in with our expert reviews before you buy.

For expert advice on how to make the most of the sales, including how to spot fake reviews, see our winter sales insider’s guide.

We like: No sound leakage

We didn’t like: No equaliser to adjust sound to your preferences

It’s rare to see a saving this large on Apple devices, but with newer AirPods launching very recently we’ve seen a substantial decrease in prices from this tech giant. They normally retail for around £215 on the high street, but you can pick them up for just £189 from Appliances Direct.

Check out our Apple Airpods Pro review to find out how they performed in our rigorous lab tests or buy them for £189 from Appliances Direct.

We don’t like: SD picture

This 43-inch LG has natural and balanced colours, but our standard definition (SD) test showed content was quite blurry and the colours too warm.

Still, if you don’t watch much SD, this could be the right model for you – particularly at that bargain price. Plus its sound is good for dialogue and is nice and rich, which works well for film scores.

We like: Rich and full sound, great remote

We don’t like: Some confusing menus

This 48-inch 4K OLED TV from LG features excellent picture quality, and the use of HDR really makes the display shine.

It also has exceptional sound quality, with the option to add a home stereo system through the HDMI eARC input.

Usually retailing for around £1,000, you’re getting a reasonably good deal at £739. We have seen it for as low as £699, though, so bear this in mind.

See our full LG OLED48A16LA review to see how it fared in our tests, or buy now for £739 from PRC Direct.

We don’t like: Menus are fiddly

This 65-inch 4K OLED TV from LG has great image and colour quality, as well as expectational speakers and sound – making it a great all-rounder.

While it definitely ranks as a higher-priced TV, this is one of the cheapest 65-inch 4K TV’s from LG and usually retails around £1,499.

We like: Very thin and light

We don’t like: Loud fans

We have seen this one more than £150 cheaper recently, so this isn’t the best deal we’ve seen on this laptop by any means. However, it is the best deal currently available, if you should be desperate to buy it now.

Weighing just 865g, it’s worth considering if you need a laptop for commuting or travelling with, and it’s thin enough to comfortably carry in your bag.

It charges fairly quickly, too.

We like: Quick wash programs

We don’t like: Not as energy efficient as we’d like

This washer’s 7kg cotton capacity is enough for all of a family of three or four’s laundry needs.

It also has a program specifically for waterproofing microfibre fabric, ski-wear or table linen to make it more resistant to water and dirt.

We’ve seen other retailers offering it at £699, so £70 off is a decent deal.

We like: Very efficient, includes super-cool and fast freeze functions

We don’t like: Freezer space is smaller than fridge space

This Samsung is extremely efficient – it’s running costs are lower than most other fridge freezers we’ve tested. It’s also quiet, so ideal if you socialise a lot in your kitchen.

Usually around £800, we’ve found it on offer for just £644.98 – so this is a good deal.

Is it the right model for you? Find out in our Samsung RB38T602CWW review or buy it now with a five-year warranty for £644.98 at Appliances Direct

We like: Can be used on most bed bases, not too warm to lie in, 200-night trial, doesn’t need to be turned

We don’t like: Only available online

The Emma Original is the most popular mattress on the Which? website and it’s currently on offer with 50% off. That’s the biggest discount we’ve seen on this mattress, so it’s definitely worth bagging now if you’ve had your eye on it.

It’s made up of a 19cm foam core, with an additional 2cm layer of memory foam an 4cm layer of ordinary foam. And it’s not too warm to lie on.

We like: Good support, excellent durability

We don’t like: Stability could be better

The Emma Smart Hybrid mattress features multiple layers of spring, foam, ‘aqua-gel’, and fabric to give you comfort and support regardless of what position you sleep in.

It’s incredibly durable, breathable, and doesn’t get too warm to comfortably sleep in.

At around £200 off its usual price, this deal is certainly a good one.

We don’t like: There are no handles to help with moving it about

Eve is offering the Eve Lighter hybrid for £340, down from £568.

It’s a pocket sprung and foam combination mattress and is only available to buy online.

It’s delivered to your door rolled and vacuum-packed in a box and Eve describes it as more lightweight but no less mighty than its original hybrid mattress.

As well as finding you the best deals this December, we’ve also put together a list of the best and worst shops.

We’ve quizzed thousands of Which? members on their experiences of shopping in some of the country’s best-known stores and websites, as well as with lesser-known brands.

After crunching the numbers, we can reveal which retailers score highly for product quality, range and value for money. To see which retailers impressed in our latest shopping survey, head over to our extensive guide on the best and worst shops.

Some retailers use underhand tactics to pressure you into making a purchase.

These include anchor pricing (when products are on sale more often than they aren’t), pressure selling (’30 people are viewing this right now!’) and dubious claims about the ‘before’ price of a product.

If you’re unsure how good a deal is, use a tool such as PriceRunner to compare prices across retailers.

It’s always a good idea to read reviews before you buy a product, but not all reviews are trustworthy.

Some sellers incentivise people to post fake positive reviews to drown out genuine negative ones. If you’re in any doubt, check out our expert guide on how to spot a fake review.

Whether you bought a product in-store or online, you still have rights under the Consumer Contract Regulations.

The regulations give you a 14-day window to return a non-faulty product, which begins on the day you receive your goods. Many retailers will give you longer than this, but it is always best to check before you buy.

We’ve put together advice on the additional rights you have when shopping online in our online returns guide.
